Look What Emelyn Made!

I fell in  love with Emelyn Magpoc's guest designer submission last year because of her unique layering style and extreme attention to delicate detail.
How this little lady finds the time to scrap with 3 children to care for amazes me, but so glad she did to be one of our
May Guest Designers!

Here is more about Em in her own words:

1) Tell us a little about you--where did you grow up, about your family, how'd you end up where you live now,
do you have a career?

I moved to CA from the Philippines when I was 2; been living in the Bay Area ever since.  I even managed to get my DH to move up here from LA!  haha.  We've been married for 11 years! and have 3 kiddos.  They are the main subjects in my layouts. We also LOVE to travel, so you'll see plenty of travel layouts from me.  I have an engineering degree from college, only used it for 5 years, then quit when I was preggo with #2.  I started teaching classes at the LSS, designed for a few mfg, and sold greeting cards and custom invitations.  Now I work PT as a research assistant.

2) When and how did you get into papercrafting?

I've always been a paper crafter.  Made my own cards since I can remember, have a "scrap" book of memorabilia since highschool, and did various arts and crafts from floral arranging to reupholstering our couches.  It must run in the genes because my Grandmother was super creative!  She was always helping me with school projects.  And now my daughter is all about arts and crafts.

3) What inspires you or gets your 'juices" flowing?

Going through my stash..LOL!  Going through magazines or checking out the blogs.

4) What is the "down side", if any, of our hobby in your opinion? What is the best part?

I guess I hit the "down side" would be all the stash one can accumulate...everything in scrapping is soo PRETTY, it's hard to resist!  It makes for a very crowded scraproom.
The best part, the creativity and the memories. I love looking back at pictures and remembering the moment, the stories, and the adventures.

5) If you could go anywhere/do anything and then capture the memories, where would you go and
how would you show off your memories?

We already had a dream trip a few years ago.  About 20 of our family members went on the Holy Land tour.  It was tough with 3 kids, ages 7-1!, but it was so memorable.  It was both a family reunion and an amazing adventure.  I started scrapping the pictures, but with over 1000 it's pretty overwhelming.  I also plan to do a mini book with favorite pictures/memories so it's easy for the kids to flip through.

Thank you soooo much, Kelly for this wonderful opportunity to design with your kits.  You have a natural gift of mixing manufacturers and elements to create one of a kind and unique kits!!

Here are a few shots of the kit I sent to Emelyn to "play" with:
